About Me Recording and Producing

My music and recording career have gone hand in hand. For as long as I have been involved in music I have been recording myself and others.

It all started with playing music into one of those old cassette players with a built-in mic. Then I discovered all the wonderful instruments lying around in my cousin’s music room, including a Moog Source synth! My love for recording was born.

As a teenager I saved up and upgraded to a second-hand 4-track Portastudio and an Alesis SR16 drum machine to record my jams and compositions.

Whilst at Mountview Theatre School, London, I gravitated to the Sound Department and created sound effects and atmospheric tracks on a ¼” reel-to-reel machine and operated the sound for productions.

This led me to a fantastic work placement at Funny Bunny Sound Studios, London with the producers Dave Allen (The Cure, The Damned) and Andy Wright (Simply Red, Massive Attack). I helped build part of a studio, learnt how to align the 24-track tape machine and worked on the production of Reef’s recordings.

I was very fortunate to spend 2 years as Assistant Re-recording Mixer on sound for film at Goldcrest Post Production, London. Paul Carr was my mentor there and I learnt so much from him. Being a Star Wars fan, luck came my way when I did some ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) on Star Wars Episode 2 - this was a dream come true. I also worked on sound for too many films to mention here, including James Bond: Die Another Day, and Tomb Raider 2.

Since then I’ve continued sound engineering and producing my own music and that of my students and friends, including 3 CDs for a charity.
